Brix is a great place to go and get good cheap drinks. Definitely a favorite place to hit up on the weekends. **FYI they do allow smoking inside so if that's not your thing beware. ***They do have a pretty cool outside set up so you can always escape the smokiness out there.

I stopped into Brix on a recent Saturday night due to a friend's 21st birthday party. I was shocked to read here on Yelp that this is a "bar", as I assumed all night that it was a nightclub. And let me start off my review by saying I HATE nightclubs and only attend when it's required. Rolled up here and stood in line for about 5 minutes to get in. Immediately after getting in line, we noticed a drunken college girl stumble out of the door, screaming and yelling about something, then proceeding to throw up beside the door. That's how the night at Brix started. She then stumbled through the line, pushing everybody out of the way while she drunkenly walked away.. Finally got inside and proceeded to not move for about 10 minutes, as the inside of the building was literally packed to the point nobody could go anywhere. I could not move. Period. After some people were shoved out of the way ahead of us, a line started shuffling towards the back area outside the main building. A wonderfully hot and humid summer night kept everybody sweaty, but at least we could talk and move around and make our way to the bar. The bartenders here were actually pretty damn good... for as busy as they were, they were able to take care of everyone pretty quickly, and were making some pretty good drinks. The majority of folks outside were sitting on a brick wall, while a lot of us stood around chatting, enjoying our drinks and the ability to actually move around. At some point I tried to make my way inside to use the restroom and made it about 15 feet before coming to a dead stand still and not moving for 5 minutes. Literally. Again, so packed noone could move. Never found the bathroom, just decided to hold it because I knew I would be leaving soon enough and not giving this place any more of my time or money. Couldn't focus on the loud booming rap blaring from the speakers. Saw an amazingly large number of drunken douches trying to hit on every girl in sight, and doing a very poor job at it. Pretty diverse crowd, but mostly everyone was having fun, although I don't know how. Other reviews seem to state this place is a lot of fun... I suppose I need to stop by on a Saturday afternoon and be able to enjoy some drinks at a bar where I can actually grab a seat. Or move around. Maybe I got there on a bad night. I tried to make the best of it, and I hated this place. Not opposed to going back, but it will NOT be on a Saturday night.

Nice place, nice facility, great floor plan, huge bar in the middle of the place and space around the bar, nice outside area. It is a great part of Jacksonville Beach, I can see why it is part of many of the bar crawls. I'd be a regular if I lived at the beach! Nice place

My first time coming to this location was on a Thursday Night with friends for the $2 Vodka Gatorades. Needless to say that after just drinking two they were too weak so after doing a double for $4 it was much better. They seemed to have a pretty exxtensive beer menu, Yet maybe only two really good one's. Most were pretty weak with the highest ABV being 7%. I would come back again on Thursday nights, as the place wasnt too bad. But given its a Taphouse they need some stronger beers in here.

I really like this place. It is a good spot to come and get music and some good drinks. We come here after dinner for some affordable drinks and to dance a bit. It is crowded, although not too crowded that makes it hard to get drinks or maneuver throughout the bar. They have a nice place to dance, and the outside bar is a hot spot to chill if its not too humid outside.

My cousins took me to the Brix the first weekend I moved down here and for my 29th birthday. Each time I went I had a lot of fun, well... because I was drunk and staying on the dance floor the whole time. The Brix has both an outdoor and indoor bar area, so you can choose to party inside or bask in the Florida heat. Either way, you'll get hot and stay hot. It can get crowded depending on the time and especially on Fridays and Saturdays, and you have to shout your orders at the bartender. But it's like that at most bars, no? Anyway, the atmosphere is fun, a good mix of different age groups, and the really drunk ones will attempt to grind you randomly on the dance floor, lol! The staff regularly make their way through the crowd, clearing empty glasses and quickly wiping the floor and tables, for health and safety reasons. They do a great job keeping the dance floor clean throughout the night. The DJ takes requests and will do birthday shout out (much to my dismay my cousins requested the DJ to play "Birthday Sex" for me...). Never used the restroom, but my cousins tried to avoid it sometimes if it's too crowded, or if a bunch of drunk girls are comparing their areolas, from what I heard. I have fun when I come here. If you like bars and dancing, and don't mind being claustrophobic on the dance floor, then this is the place for you.

Great drinking spot at the beach, full sports bar on a Saturday afternoon. No food, but lots of great local brews on tap, full well stocked bar, and where everyone knows your name. Lots of high end brands, lots of shots being served all around the bar.

Brix is a great place to grab a drink. On Sunday they have a live band outside. They have free popcorn and happy hour till 8 on Sunday's. They have several drink specials during the week. On Fridays and Saturdays they have a DJ it gets rowdy!

  • Jimmy P.

I come here on Sundays to watch NFL football. Great football atmosphere! Go Jags! They offer free food and they are great! I had a caesar salad, chicken soft tacos, steak soft tacos, yellow rice, and brownies for dessert one Sunday and I had sliders, fries, and salad another Sunday. All they ask for is tips to pay their bills. That's what he said :) I've been at Brix nightclub one Saturday night and it was OK. Went dancing, but the place was a little cramped and smoky.

I am here at Brix with a friend. Sundays on football season they cater free food from Lemon Gras. I am having Cesar salad, black beans, yellow rice, steak and chicken tacos, and brownies. It is all good. They know their stuff. This is the third year in a row that I attend this, and leave very happy. Every time I get food, I make sure to tip the guys. One cooks, one serves. I just repeat once, and I feel completely satisfied. Way to go Brix!

There has to be something in the windows. Every time I walk near this place something about the neon lights and the people dancing in the windows pulls me in. As soon as I walk in I see smiling and laughing faces then some douche in a blazer puffs smoke directly into my face. I'm cursed. Or it must be a height disability. There's always a short dude that gets smokes on me almost immediately at getting thoroughly carded by the doorman. It feels like one guy is expert card checker while the other looks for fashion violations. Dress code is pretty flexible but not at lax as the bars/clubs along the beach. Guys are more likely to get turned away then girls. +1 (You'll get approach by someone that looks like they just rolled off their couch.) Then there's the wait at the bar where a tall girl puffs smoke into my face. And she always has on ugly shoes. (It's like I'm come through the doors and it's deja vu.) I order my drink at the crowded bar and step back and start ticking out my review. (I just noticed the trend of events.) I wish they kept smoking outdoors on the patio. Or at least kept it away from the entrance of the door. (-1) The drinks always taste different not necessarily bad, just not what you expected. Order a mojito and it tasted like mint lemonade? I saw a lime go in just the taste of lemon came out. Blame that on conventional food vs. organic? Follow it up with some super sweet champagne to get the weird taste out your mouth. But it's a cheap tab. (+3) Then wonder over the the dance floor. No intentions of dancing, just to peep the uncoordinated people look lame. (+1) It's entertaining. Nice bar but nothing special for a Friday night. Normally I'd wait out for Thursday to really sit and enjoy this place after work and to catch an NFL game. It's a 3.5/4 on most nights with a more refined crowd. But a decent pit stop on a Friday night bar crawl.

Came in Friday night and sat outside with a group of people. Before it got too busy Crystal was waiting on us - something I love and definitely didn't expect from a bar. She was absolutely amazing!! She didn't overly bother us and remembered our order and the name on the tab every time!!! Kudos to her! Unfortunately when we left the other female bartender closed us out and was pretty pissed that our tab was opened on the inside part and had to go get it when we explained we never went inside. The prices were also extremely low for what we expected!! We rarely come to the beach because of prices but we were glad we went. We had a group of 8 or so with us by time we left and everyone had a great time!

Not too shabby. Very mixed crowds, attentive bartenders, and inexpensive top shelf. Only bad thing is the small dance floor and smoking allowed inside.

Good beer selection, great people watching, but they allow smoking inside which I'm sure has been mentioned on other reviews. Bummer

The Brix is an interesting spot. It's part of the Ritz/Lemon Bar family, which are some of the heavy hitters in the Jax Beach bar scene. Brix tries to be the classiest of the three, and they do a good job. It's one of the only places around that has a dress code. I've seen more than a few people turned away at the doors for being sloppily dressed or being too rambunctious. This tends to attract a slightly older, more professional crowd than the typical beach bar scene. There are a few things I love about this place. The service is awesome. The bartenders are pros, and can whip up anything you would possible want from the well stocked bar. The draft list is among the best at the beach, with a rotating selection of offerings from local and national breweries. And thank god, you can't smoke here. Much like the other bars in this family, they run specials basically all the time. They also do different theme nights, like country night or free cookouts on Sunday from time to time. There's no food menu here normally. During weekdays they have a bunch of hightops around the floor, so you have a fairly quiet place to grab a drink. It's a good spot because you can actually have a conversation here and enjoy a craft brew. They also have giant sets of connect four, which is pretty fun. At night they move out the tables and chairs and have a dance-floor at the back. There's a beer garden outside, where they have a smaller bar and more open air standing room. During the day you can play corn-hole but at night it gets too crowded. It's worth a stop if you are in the neighborhood. I'm glad someone is providing an alternative to the usual slums.

We enjoyed this bar. If you're a smoker, best bar in town. We went on Memorial Day weekend on a Sunday and the service was great. Decent beer selection but I would walk a few steps more to the World of Beer for beer. If you want mixed drinks this is your place.

I like going here for drinks more so than the other popular spots in Jax beach. This is a good alternative to the Ritz which I dislike a lot. The crowd here isn't stuck up yet still keeps it classy. Drinks are ok, they have a small dance floor, and lots of room for customers with an indoor and outdoor bar area. Supposedly they have food which I never knew about. Have no idea if it's any good, but I'm assuming it's just typical bar food. Good bar spot on the beach. I'd probably give them 5 stars if they banned smoking inside the bar.

  • Anthony N.

I may have a little favoritism to this place because I work next door. So they get to eat some good food & it's nice to go right next door after a long day and relax with some good drinks. The bartenders are nice and can home themselves when the place gets a little rowdy. On busy nights they have security carding and looking for trouble makers. All in all they maintain there own in a crazy busy Jax beach area with a lot of competition.

Clean place. Good staff. Bar tenders know their drinks. Definately a place to go and have drinks

Ah the Brix. The older, more sophisticated brother of Ritz, and 2nd cousin of Lemon Bar. Trading the godly feel of the Ritz for a more eclectic decor and enforcing a stricter dress code that's non existent at Lemon Bar. You'll find over 30 beers on tap here and a full selection of liquor. Of the three, it has the steepest prices, so keep that in mind if you stumble in here from Ritz. They usually have something on special though, so make sure to ask. The Brix is a little bit more discerning on who they let in. I could tag a few people that I know who have been kicked out, but I'll refrain. I actually couldn't get in one afternoon for wearing a tank top. I wasn't sure if it was my lack of sleeves or Florida's open carry laws ;) This is really the place to come off the beach and grab a drink at. I'll give it a 4/5. I really don't have any major issues with the place. Nothing really stands out about it, but nothing makes it a place to avoid. Go there on a warm afternoon and play corn hole on the patio.

For my 30th birthday I chose to celebrate among friends and other really drunk people out on the beaches. Brix was my third stop of the night because I really wanted to bar crawl and really wanted to try their Seasonal Pumpkin Spice beer. So off we went to try some yummy seasonal beer. There was a line. A large bouncer sitting outside on a stool was checking ID's so we began laughing about random stuff, and we made it into the bar. I walk in to get lost quickly in the loud, upbeat music and the crowd. The brick facade of the bar gave way to the reason for the namesake. Brix. So off went went in a group of six to find a spot we could hang out together close enough to the bar and grab a few beers. We found a random spot close to the entrance/exit and ordered some beers. I tried an Oktoberfest and then the Pumpkin Spice. I liked the pumpkin spice beer so much better. Let's just say, it was one heck of a party in there. The DJ was spinning some awesome 90s music and being that it seemed to be an older crowd in the place, people were signing and dancing and laughing and it was just a generally amazing time. I was surprised that they played such good music that reminded me of my middle school years, which with me turning 30 on that night, I felt a little nostalgic and danced with my boyfriend and my other friends near the bar. Downside of the place is that they allow smoking indoors, but I used to be a smoker so as much as it didn't bother me to smell it, it did make me want a cigarette. It was well ventilated enough that it didn't reek of cigarette smoke so that's a good thing. We got there around 11:30 and it was already pretty slammed and jumping, now I see why. I usually frequent The Ritz across the way, but I think I've found the place I would like to hit up from now on. Pro-Tip: Do not walk out anytime before last call because they won't let you back in. And most of the bars at the beach won't let you in if you try crawling at 1, even if you're not visibly drunk. I guess it's just policy. So, if you're enjoying it and you want to check out some other places and come back, I highly suggest you do it way before 1am and just end your evening at Brix. I am interested in coming at a time when it's less busy or full of party animals so I can enjoy some different beers on tap without someone bumping into me or having to yell at my friends. I'm glad I tried this place out and I plan on going back. If you're in Jax Beach, want a beer and a relatively good time (especially in the late evening) this is a place you might want to try. I am almost disappointed that I didn't come here sooner!

If you like the Ritz you may really like the Brix. In my opinion, you graduate from the Ritz to the Brix at about age 28. The atmosphere is fun and the bartenders are the best. Fernando & Anghel are two of the best bartenders in Jax Beach. Late night is fun and it is a great singles scene and perfect for a night out on the town with your wife or girlfriend. 5 Stars.

For me, this place is hit or miss and I usually only find myself there if I'm already meeting other people. One super awesome thing that happened to me the other night was that I ordered a gin & juice (grapefruit juice for those of you who ask). After a few minutes I was wondering where my bartender had gone and soon she emerged with a real life grapefruit. I was all "wait.. what's she doing with that?" then, I saw her cut the fruit in half then put on their juicer and squeeze the juice out of the fruit and into my glass of gin! WHAT!? Juice that didn't come from a can! It wasn't a slow night either, they definitely had a full bar. I was so impressed but I definitely didn't take advantage. I'm a former bartender and I would know better than to order that again on a busy night. But, it was a nice treat!

If you get here before the drunk partiers this is a cool bar with lots of great beer choices. If you get here after it turns into a club then you have to deal with the drunk 20-somethings. It is a bummer that they allow smoking inside, that is a big no-no for me.

I came out here last night for my friend's birthday. It was her 13th anniversary of her 21st birthday. Lol. It was my first time here. I heard it was really packed in there, and sure enough, it was. This was a nice change from the somewhat empty venues I been frequenting since I started clubbing again. I guess this is where a lot of people end up on Saturday, at the beaches. There was always a line outside of Brix everytime I passed by it before. I was always discouraged before, but it really didn't take long. Also, there is No Cover here (at least not at the time I went right before midnight). Drinks were not too bad. $6 for an Apple Martini. The bartenders were really cool and helpful. Usually you go to a place and they don't really pay attention to their customers, but all the bartenders here were really attentive to the customers and often I was asked by more than 1 person if I was already helped. Music selection was interesting. Mostly hip hop and 80s tunes, although they also played Top 40. The crowd was a mixed crowd ranging from the late 20's to early 30's. Almost everyone there was really friendly and down-to-earth. What stuck out the most was this one dude with flashing neon-light jewelry complete with a flashing-light set of teeth. Also, a girl I just met helped me carry some drinks to my friends. One bad point was it was somewhat of a meat market. Some dude greeted me at the beginning of my visit as I was rushing by with "Hey there, you look beautiful" (taps the booty). And what really disappointed me was that they played the last song around 1:30. ::sigh:: Way too early for me.

I work right next to Brix so I'm often over here right after work. Other reviewers say it gets crazy and/or pretentious later at night, but all I can attest to is the 5pm-8pm timeslot, during which it is a clean, relatively quiet bar with a fairly impressive number of beers on tap (20-30). Look: if you're stuck in Jax Beach and you want a beer after, before, or in place of dinner, Brix is it.

Good place to get a drink if you don't want to go to the Ritz

  • Mark E.

First let me tell you why i only gave them 3 stars, it's because they're really bad about taking your drinks off your table while you're still sitting there if your back is turned , even if it's full. they'll clear your whole table off if u get up for a split second to talk to someone or use the restroom, it really pissed me and my friends off a couple visits. so i learned to never set my drink down on a table, other than that it's a really nice place, the business has been dying a little bit, it used to be sick when it was packed, plus the outside bar/smoking area was a big plus, decent drink prices

I'll be the first to say that Brix sometimes gets a bad rap out here at the beaches. Sure, on Friday and Saturday nights it gets a little "clubby" with scantily clad townies ordering an overabundance of Washington Apples before elbowing each other (dancing?) for hours on the dance floor. But, truly, at any other time, the Brix is a great craft beer bar. With 32 interesting drafts on tap, tons of TV's, and knowledgeable bartenders, this has become one of my favorite spots for an impromptu happy hour or to watch football. In fact, Brix does it up pretty big for Jags away games, with drink specials and a catered spread. Clearly they're "all in!" I also really enjoy their outside patio. It keeps the main bar free of smoke and provides a nice little getaway from the bump and grind of the dance floor on busy nights. Another fun tip: Brix is my go to for seasonal favorites like Pumpkin ales. Yum yum!

Went to Brix last night after leaving another beach bar in search of a younger crowd. I've frequented Brix quite a bit when they first opened, but haven't been in awhile. There was a line, but it didn't take long to get in. My drink was amazing - a top shelf double for only $8? Woo! It was also easy to get a drink since the bar is HUGE and they were a TON of bartenders working. The place was packed and my biggest complaint is that people can smoke inside. There's a nice outdoor patio space but since it was chilly (by FL standards) few were out there. That meant a lot of smoke inside which I personally don't like. However, smokers might be pleased about this. I'll agree with Julie - the later you go the bigger the meat market atmosphere. I also found myself in one of those in-your-personal-space-hit-on-by-drunk-guy situations. It guess it's just par for the course. I really went there to dance, knowing that the dance floor is somewhat limited space-wise. However, I don't think the DJ could make up his mind. It was a mix of 80s-90s-todays. Really? Can we just pick a genre please? It also had an awkward flow - from upbeat to r&b to 80s rock to Miley Cyrus. Weird. Although, seeing a 6'2, 250 lb guy sing "Party in the USA" on the dance floor pretty much made my night. After last call, the staff began shouting "GO HOME" to everyone in sight. I was trying to find my girlfriend and accidentally walked out the exit. Turning around, I spotted her literally five feet away from me. Seeing she'd indulged a bit and needed me to help her get up, I moved to go back inside to get her. The bouncer stuck his arm out, hit me in the gut, and said, "You can't go back in." Trying to reason, I pointed to her and said, "That's my girlfriend; I just want to grab her and leave." He wouldn't move his arm, and just stared at me and said, "You're not getting back in." Then he watched as she had to stumble over to me. Um, rude and unnecessary much? So - three stars for drinks and atmosphere - minus two starts for lame music selection and power-hungry bouncers.

If there ever was a fancy bar/club in the Jacksonville Beach area, well, this is all you've got. It's not fancy, not really, but the crowd is at least well dressed, probably most of them live very comfortably, and the interior is really nicely decorated. It is fancy... if you can look past all the drunk people. This is, after all, a bar. People get wild here. The drinks are big and strong. The bar is located in the center of the interior, easy access from pretty much every angle. The best place to hang out, in my opinion, is on the outside patio. There are lots of places to sit, its pretty, and you can hear a little better than you can inside. In fact, I basically only ever go inside to go to the bathroom [they are big and bright and pretty]. If you are going out in Jax Beach and want to feel a little classy, despite being fall down drunk, well then, this is your place.

Although the Brix is a spot that hardly ever disappoints on any given day of the week, Thursday and Sunday evenings are the best nights to hit up this beachside favorite. If you enjoy live entertainment, the musical talents of The Charlie Walker Band and Split Tone will keep your head bobbing and your feet dancing. Thursday: Split Tone rocks the bar with a Reggae-Rock fusion, featuring cover songs from bands like Sublime, Pepper, The Fugees, Matisyahu, etc. The band (accompanied by the Thursday night $1 Yuengling special) draws an attractive crowd of college students and young professionals who show up to get their groove on. Sunday: The Charlie Walker Band provides the perfect soundtrack for an extended Sunday Funday Night! Performing covers by artists such as Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz, Jeff Buckley, Ben Harper, etc., much of the Thursday night crowd shows up for a second helping of musical goodness. The structure itself offers a variety of options for bar patrons: Chat with friends at one of the high-top tables lining the walls, grab a stool and perch yourself at the enormous bar located in the center of the establishment, twirl a friend on the dance floor, or enjoy an outside patio with ample sitting and standing space and an additional bar. No Cover = More cheddar to spend @ the bar(and tip your bartenders, as they are wonderful). Hooray!

This is a pretty cool bar. A little more upscale than the traditional "beach bar" - which can be cool. If you are looking for cheaper drinks (tho, these are not bad) - check out their sister bar - the ritz.

I like the cleanliness of the brix -- but I avoid the brix due to the somewhat pretentious crowd. it's one of the cleaner bars in jax beach though. :) you can actually use the bathroom without contracting VD.

It's the best place to party at the beaches. After spending all my college years at the Ritz I wanted a place that wasn't so college dominated. Then came the Brix and I fell in love. Going on either Friday or Saturday will always have me saying what a great weekend.

I always have a great time here with friends and how can you beat $2 vodka drinks on Sunday night. There's a mix crowd but mostly fun people. Count on a great DJ or a good band any night you go there.

This bar is a must!!!!! They have 32 draft taps, I thought I was in heaven. Great specials all week and good bands on Thurs & Sun. Plus it's right by all the other great beach spots so it's easy to bounce around. Great for all ages (21&up). Great classy crowd usually.
